What training will I receive?
You will have a week of intense training before the summer of ministry begins. This time is spent to ensure that you are adequately prepared. Training will include subjects such as:
- Introduction to Kaleo
- The Spiritual Life
- Serving as Christ Served
- City Orientations
- Team Building Activities
- Leadership Skills
- Debriefing Skills
- Communicating Across Cultures
- Customer Service
- Arranging Logistics
- Tasks specific to your role on the team
Will I have any time off?
Kaleo Staff will be required to work at all times while teams are on-site. However, teams will come for 4-6 nights per week, so between hosting teams, you will have downtime to regroup, relax and recharge. In the event that there is no gap between teams, the staff team will rotate days off to ensure everyone has a break. If there is week without Kaleo teams onsite, your time will be spent building relationships with ministries, preparing for the next teams, and taking some time to relax and refocus. Staff who choose to use this time for personal leave will not be paid and will have to cover their own expenses during that time.
Do I have to pay for anything?
If you are selected to serve, you will be responsible to arrange and cover your travel to and from the location at the beginning and end of the summer. Kaleo will provide housing and food during all activities related to your staff responsibilities once you have arrived at your ministry site. Kaleo does not pay for meals eaten outside of the weekly menu that is provided for the teams. Nor does Kaleo pay for transportation that is incurred outside of Kaleo responsibilities, such as traveling on your weeks off that is not Kaleo related.
Do I get paid?
Kaleo Summer Staff will receive a stipend for their 11 weeks of service, in addition to meals and housing. For more information on stipend amounts, please contact Ronnie Davis at ronnie@kaleomissions.org. You are also welcome to raise support through American Missionary Fellowship, and we will give you additional information about that if you are selected for a Staff Position.
Can I receive college credit?
We will be glad to work with your college/university to help you get internship credit for your service with Kaleo.
Do I have to have medical insurance?
All staff are responsible for their individual medical insurance. A proof of medical insurance form must be provided to Kaleo before the May training.
Do I have to get CPR/First Aid certified?
Yes, you must be CPR/First Aid certified. It is your responsibility to receive your First Aid and CPR certification before the training event in May. You will be required to provide us a copy of your certification no later than two weeks prior to training. You can visit www.redcross.org to find a class near you.
Are you looking for additional skills?
We are also looking for the following skills. Please be sure to specify when you complete the Online Application.
- Digital Video and Editing
- Speak Spanish
- Leading Worship

What will be our responsibilities?

In addition to the staff team’s shared responsibilities, you will each be assigned one of the following roles on the team:
- Team Leader
- Ministry/Outreach Coordinator

- Groups Coordinator
